the rules of TPIR are that whoever gets the closest to the price of the showcase...WITHOUT going over. So if Jose goes OVER - even by $1, Gay would with with a bid of $1 as she did here. brilliant move by Gay!!!! :-)

Hang on. Gay had to get closer to hers than Jose did to his? Why did she bet a dollar then? If she'd been 5k further out and Jose 5k closer, Jose would've won. Gay is the dumbass.

@segwo How do you know she was trying to rub it in his face? She may have just been playing it safe. Why take chances? The only motive for a more reasonable bid would have been a dangerous attempt to win both showcases. Dangerous because she didn't need to try hard to win one of them.
