Question to all: im thinking of buying a new motherboard. the new bord has a PATA connection. so can i connect my old IDE hard drives to a PATA connection?is a PATA connection the same as an IDE connection?

I see.. But i can mix SATA and IDE together.. some net people say can't will crash system, but i can work

Sata is a whole different connector, you can't combine the two.

if your computer uses IDE, get an IDE drive, if your computer uses SATA, get a SATA drive.

i got the same setup as the guy making this video ( harddisks and 1 floppy) i unplugged the floppy and out it in the harddrive but my new harddrive i put there today dont work? do i NEED to pug the floppy back on?

just want to know i have 2 Harddrives and i want to put another OS on the other one so i can put it in my cousins computer can i do that and then afterwards put my old harddrive back?and will it still work as my OS?

Whaaat? :P Isn't this a new computer? Mine is quad @ 2.50 per core, and already about 3 years old. Aim higher. I would get 7 myself, but seeing as how this rig has some wear&tear on her already, I'm waiting until my next computer because -- and be warned -- all the 7s (except Professional and Enterprise, which are meant for offices) have a single-user license, meaning you can only install each copy ONCE. If that wasn't the case, I'd grab it, too, but Vista will do for now.
