force times distance is work and work equals energy. Force is still the same, however the distance that is applied determines the amount of work. For example you can have 30lbs of force with distance of 40 meters vs. 30lbs of force of 50 meters. Th amount of work that is done on 50 meters has larger energy. 1/2mv^2 is the formula for kinetic energy.
