-ed weapon in any situation. M14 is good for medium to long range combat. In vietnam, most the fights were in the forest and/or on a open field. Either way you need a weapon that packs equally both precision and ROF in vietnam,
for the Americans the AK-47 would probably the best choice out of any weapon so in this vietnam argument you're BOTH WRONG! :0
