Dear Medifix--you obviously haven't started an IV before. You CAN touch all the above while wearing these gloves. These aren't STERILE gloves, nor STERILE technique. You use no-touch technique. If you knew about starting IV's you would know you MUST release the tourniquet, stabilize the catheter, etc.You can't do that if you are wearing sterile gloves. The puncture SITE is ALWAYS sterile. Have you EVER seen a nurse don sterile gloves for IV insertion? it's because they DON'T. Only for CIV's

This is very good example to show how careless the nureses are once they were a gloves. Has some one told you that its OK to touch patient, tornique and the cloths wearing a gloves on your hand?Please use this video to educate others what they must not do to reduce infections.
