45rpm press: My Baby Left Me - Elvis Presley with Scotty, Bill and D.J., 1956 - RCA Victor 47-6540

(Apologies to any viewers from Germany: Apparently, YouTube is blocking this video there - have no idea why, as it seems arbitrary as hell)Elvis with some vinegar and before the polish - talk about some evil groove to rockabilly!!!!!

Near mint 1st pressing here - with a crappy conical stylus, but I think it still comes through well enough. ;)

This one's for you, Miles. :)

You bet, Miles. :)Was hoping you'd get a kick out of it - especially with such a clean pressing. I know I'll NEVER come across such a clean, orginal 1st pressing like this again.

Yeah his sound is so raw and natural and just him....no influences from anyone....just the voice and the music! Amazing how many of his songs cracked the charts that year! Other artists were lucky to have one hit on the charts! Thanks for sharing it with us!

You know it, Dave - and thanks. :)Yeah, this is the Elvis I dig - 1954-1956 (this is about as 'late' as I go with Elvis), before the poor man was jaded with commercialism and the meat grinder within that machine.

Unbridled joy and pure energy - and a damn fine sense of unadulterated rockin'!!!!!

(and to finish my thought. . .)

The recording, itself, is one of the few recordings from his post-Sun days that still retains most of that raw "imperfectly perfect" Sun sound.

Nice one here, Mark

I have seen this written somewhere before but, I thought I would share this here, as well. . .

From his breakout year, this release proved to be one of his least popular chart singles. Of the 9 singles that charted on the Billboard C&W charts in 1956, this was the only one that did not crack the top 10 (#13). And, of the 12 that charted on the Billboard Hot 100, only "Money Honey" charted lower (#76) than "My Baby Left Me" (#31).
