@upinarms79 I understand its purpose. Nothing is impenetrable. I dont think it was a good test though. The 7.62x39 round isnt a very powerful round to begin with and was designed to take a medium sized man out of the fight.

collapsed lungs and broken ribs are a good thing, but they are
typically less fatal than having a hole blown
through your chest cavity, lol, Body armor really doesn't
work the way you see in the movies. A few hits of anything will eventually penetrate even the best of armors. It's made to get you through a firefight long enough for you to take cover, not to make you a walking tank.

Even then, you are looking at some broken ribs and possibly collapsed lungs from getting hit with such a large fast moving rifle rounds ie 339 lapua, 416 barret , or 50 BMG

@oldwhitehouseSoldiers are not permitted to use private weapons or body armor. The dragon skin armor has not passed army testing, which portions I do not know. I believe it failed in the area of how long it lasts. It simply wears down faster than other body armors and therefore may not be cost efficient or usable in a war. It would be great for single use operations though, like special forces and rangers.

@TTBlackOPS I heard that the army doesn't allow soldiers to use privately owned weapons and armor. I also read an article that stated that the army advised soldiers against purchasing it for some reason or another.

30-06 armor piercing will not punch through it. Typically, anything around 30 cal. or smaller won't do it. Remember though, any body armor can be compromised with multiple hits in the same area. Technically, you could pierce it with a much weaker round than it's rated for. Anything greater than 2850 ft/s might do it like the .338 Lapua Magnum or the .50 bmg. Not sure about those but look them up. Also, deagle brand deagles.

hay can anyone help me out here, im working on a project for school and i need to find out if there is any type of armor piercing round that can go through a level IV bullet resistent vest.
