@Slypaperclips yea i don't think people realize that here in the UK, were not even aloud 2 attack people that break into our homes, not aloud to hurt them in any way unless its self defense, if our animals attack them then they can sue us, although that is really really stupid, if that's how it is then imagine what would happen if we shot somebody. martial arts really is the way to go in the UK because its non lethal and that's how it MUST be done here, if we want to avoid a long jail sentence

Keep on killing eachother if you want, it's natural wasteage of the dregs of humanity. Meanwhile I'll take advantage of the miniscule murder rates in my country. Just because you carry a gun around you think you have any sort of impact on your country's control over you? I say it makes you even more of a coward, you warmongering idiot.

Well as long as you can employ lethal force to the measures you are able to, that's what's important. Guns are everywhere, its easy for crooks over here to acquire a 'Saturday night special' , so it only makes sense to allow citizens ownership rights of firearms.

I would point out that in my country a 'pull of the trigger' usually lands you in prison for a very long time, regardless of the motive. And as I keep saying, we don't have guns where I live. So I'd rather take my bokken to the fucker cause he's probably going to have a knife if he's breaking into my house. Also, I have a pretty big dog. Non-lethal is always better if possible.

Regardless, the fact you have to 1. get into hand to hand is a bad idea (especially if the crook is armed especially with a firearm) 2. you cannot aggressively defend your home with as much effectiveness as with a firearm. Why rush into a melee fest when you can simply pull a trigger and the battle's won? And the highest dan i've committed to is TKD although i've done tons of other stuff for awhile now.

Submitting? You clearly have no idea of what traditional Ju Jitsu is about. As for Tae Kwon Do, I have tried it and tbh it may have some good techniques but it's a bit far fetched. For example, the high kicks that you do leave you vulnerable and rely on distance, something that a Ju Jitsu practitioner will not give you. My style is traditional Japanese, it's about hitting a weak point e.g neck,joints and making them hit the ground very hard and very fast. And I've done it since I was seven.

Nothing beats a double barrel shotgun with .00buck at close proximity. And since you have little crime in your area, go ahead (in terms of home security). Since there IS crime of that nature around here, it makes since, and I'd like to see those martial arts skills take effect when its 3am and you've just been awoken from sleep (I submit they will not). I've been a student of various MMA for the past 13 years(3rd Dan TKD) and not to mention knives can be used against you much easier than guns.
