@killintymm So do you have a Spanish surname? Just wondering. So the Spaniards just passed out flowers and gave each and every native a basket of fruit?

If you don't want to acknowledge Columbus well you shouldn't acknowledge Cinco De Mayo Day.

Columbus is one of my favorite American historical heroes!

You seem to have paraphrased what I already wrote and certainly a small part of what I believe to be true. I also believe Columbus should continue to be honored here in the United States. What other people from other nations believe doesn't concern me. The fact is that if not Columbus, it would have been another late 15th-early 16th Century European explorer leading the first expedition for permanent settlement and conquest of this hemisphere. Native Americans would have suffered the same fate.

Funny how this video NEVER once mentioned race yet everyone is talking about race and whose race is better than whose. It's just plain to see that race IS in fact a big issue here in the US even though people would like to say that we're all pretty much equal here. Of course there's bashing about race and there's a line between Columbus being white and the Native Americans/minorities when the message was totally ignored. It's about Columbus' actions, not his race that is the issue here.

how many natives were in america before columbus arrived , and how many did he and his troops kill? does anyone have any idea of the figures ? also were all the young girls raped so the future offsprings were not really native but mixed even if they looked native.

I'm not saying that celebrating your country is wrong, I'm saying that to celebrate Columbus is wrong. Had it not been for the British throne, most of us would be speaking Spanish or French today, and the US still wouldn't be a country. Doesn't mean we celebrate King George. Slavery was the backbone that made our economy competitive in the world, and ultimately what it is today, should we celebrate slavery?
