The Stone Roses were an English alternative rock band formed in Manchester in 1984. They were one of the pioneering groups of the Madchester movement that was active during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The band's most notable lineup consisted of vocalist Ian Brown, guitarist John Squire, bassist Gary "Mani" Mounfield, and drummer Alan "Reni" Wren.Their 1989 debut album The Stone Roses was a breakthrough success for the band. The Stone Roses decided to capitalise on their success by signing to a major label, but Silvertone would not let them out of their contract, which led to a long legal battle. The band signed with Geffen Records in 1991, and in 1994 released another album, Second Coming. After several lineup changes throughout the supporting tour, including the departure of Reni and Squire, the group disbanded. Through their several incarnations, they were able to consistently put out albums that charted well, while still holding the respect of critics. Though they never achieved great success in North America, they were considered to be one of the most successful British rock bands of the 90s. [2]

The Stone Roses fue una banda originaria de Manchester, Inglaterra, la más representativa del movimiento Madchester de finales de los '80. Es uno de los grupos que más influyó a bandas de la escena Britpop en los '90.
Su música se caracteriza por tener atractivas melodías 'beatlescas' combinadas al sonido dance beat de la época. Con apenas un par de singles obtuvieron una aureola de culto y la prensa especializada los trató con reverencia. La banda sólo llegó a editar dos discos (un homónimo (The Stone Roses) en 1989 y un segundo disco, Second Coming en 1994) antes de separarse por problemas entre sus integrantes. [3]
Suede fue un grupo de rock londinense formado en 1989 y disuelto en 2003. La formación con la que se dieron a conocer fue: Brett Anderson (Voz), Bernard Butler (Guitarra), Matt Osman (Bajo) y Simon Gilbert (Batería). Antes de grabar su primer disco también pasaron por la banda fugazmente el baterista de The Smiths, Mike Joyce y la que más tarde sería cantante y líder del grupo Elastica, Justine Frischmann, por aquella época novia de Brett Anderson.[4]
