The Backyardigan's Themed Fondant Cake


I made this cake for my niece Valerie's 2nd Birthday Party she had a Backyardigans theme. I made all of the characters out of Fondant and the House out of Gumpaste, I also made butterflies, birds, trees, clouds, flowers and a fence all around the cake and the letters and butterflies are covered in Disco Dust. The cake is a 2 tier cake 12 in and 9 inch, the 12 inch is chocolate fudge cake with whipped cream and strawberries inside covered with a Ghirardelli Chocolate Ganache and the 9inch is a yellow cake with pinapple flavor incorporated in the mix, with whipped cream and pinapple chunks coverd in a vanilla buttercream. This cake was a lot of work especially making all the characters...but my niece was worth all that work...I was very pleased the way this cake turned out.
